Libyan Desert Glass is a natural impactite composed predominantly of lechatelierite (nearly pure SiO₂ glass). Chemically, it is one of the purest natural silica glasses known (±96.5–99% SiO₂), with minor oxides and occasional meteoritic traces. It formed approximately 29 million years ago in the late Eocene when a meteorite impact or airburst melted quartz-rich desert sand in what is now the remote Great Sand Sea strewn field, straddling the border of eastern Libya and western Egypt.
Metaphysically it is said to activate and resonate with the solar plexus, sacral, and third eye chakras. Enhancing willpower, self-confidence, creativity, inner strength, and personal power while bringing grounding cosmic energy and transformative vibrations from its meteoric origins.
